Product Introduction

Ceramic-lined reducers combine a steel reducer body with an internal alumina ceramic lining for abrasive material transfer. The reducer connects different pipe diameters while protecting the internal transition from particle impact and sliding wear. Concentric or eccentric geometry, ceramic grade, lining thickness and connection dimensions can be specified from the pipeline drawing and operating conditions.

Product Structure

Steel Outer Body

The steel body provides the reducer geometry, connection interface and structural support for pipeline installation.

Ceramic Inner Lining

Alumina ceramic forms the internal material-contact surface and separates abrasive solids from the steel body.

Protected Transition

The ceramic follows the reducer profile so the diameter transition remains covered through the internal flow passage.

Ceramic Lining Options

92% Alumina

Suitable for general abrasive conveying applications where a standard alumina ceramic lining is specified.

95% Alumina

Used for applications requiring a higher alumina content and increased ceramic hardness.

99% Alumina

Selected for applications requiring high-alumina ceramic with high hardness and low material contamination.

ZTA

Used where increased ceramic toughness is required alongside wear resistance.

Key Product Advantages

Continuous Internal Protection
The ceramic lining covers the reducer transition rather than stopping at the straight pipe sections, protecting the area where material flow changes between pipe diameters.

Drawing-Based Dimensions
Inlet diameter, outlet diameter, reducer length, angle and connection dimensions can be matched to the pipeline drawing.

Matched Lining Specification
Ceramic grade and thickness can be selected according to particle size, material velocity, temperature and wear conditions.

Maintainable Construction
Tile-lined configurations allow the internal ceramic arrangement to be planned around access, replacement and maintenance requirements.

Reducer Selection

Concentric Reducer
The inlet and outlet share the same centerline. This configuration suits layouts requiring a symmetrical diameter transition.

Eccentric Reducer
The inlet and outlet centerlines are offset. This configuration suits pipeline layouts where equipment alignment or installation clearance affects the transition geometry.

Lining Thickness
Thickness is selected according to abrasive load, particle characteristics, flow conditions and available internal clearance.

Material and Process Considerations

The steel reducer body is prepared to the required geometry before ceramic lining. Alumina ceramic sections are selected and arranged to follow the reducer profile. The lining is installed inside the body using the specified lining method. The completed reducer is then checked for dimensions, ceramic condition and internal lining continuity.

Quality Control Points

Ceramic Inspection
Ceramic sections are checked for visible cracks, edge damage, dimensional conformity and surface condition before installation.

Dimensional Inspection
Inlet diameter, outlet diameter, length, angle and connection dimensions are checked against the approved drawing.

Lining Inspection
The finished internal surface is checked for ceramic alignment, joint condition and lining continuity across the reducer transition.

What to Provide for Quotation

Pipeline Dimensions: Provide inlet diameter, outlet diameter, reducer length, angle and connection dimensions.

Operating Conditions: Material type, particle size, flow velocity, temperature and pressure help determine the ceramic configuration.

Drawing Information: A dimensional drawing or pipeline drawing allows the reducer geometry, connection arrangement and lining layout to be confirmed.

Quantity: Required quantity and delivery schedule help define production and packing requirements for the project.

Typical Applications

Ceramic-lined reducers are used in:

  • Mineral slurry pipelines
  • Coal and ash conveying systems
  • Cement material handling
  • Mineral processing systems
  • Abrasive pneumatic conveying
  • Cyclone piping
  • Bulk material transfer lines

FAQ

Q: What is a ceramic-lined reducer?

A: It is a steel reducer with an internal ceramic lining that protects the material-contact surface during abrasive material transfer between different pipe diameters.

Q: Can inlet and outlet diameters be customized?

A: Yes. Inlet and outlet dimensions can be specified according to the pipeline drawing, including concentric and eccentric configurations.

Q: Which ceramic grade should be selected?

A: Selection depends on the conveyed material, particle size, flow velocity, wear conditions and operating temperature. Alumina grades from 92% to 99% and ZTA can be specified according to the application.

Q: Can the reducer be made from a drawing?

A: Yes. Reducer geometry, dimensions, connection details and lining arrangement can be confirmed from an engineering drawing.

Q: What information is required for specification?

A: The main information includes inlet and outlet diameter, reducer length, angle, connection type, conveyed material, particle size, velocity, temperature and pressure.
